To answer the article's question: It is unethical to run a program that "tortures" an LLM because in order to do this you must run the LLM and it is unethical to run an LLM 🤷‍♀️

Talked to someone who has been dabbling in translating fiction. This guy was horrified when I told him that if he uses machine translation for more than dictionary checks of individual words, he can't put his name on the translation and the work is ineligible under most standard publishing contracts.

I think it would be neat to build an overlay web made of these things (and other things! whatever you have around, but specifically targeting these things) with it's own DNS, with the expectation that the server is just hanging out on wifi somewhere and doesn't have much juice and everything is static or barely dynamic and always HTML 4 + CSS 2 (plus maybe inline video and audio playback, but honestly make your video and audio playback downloads or podcasts.)
